What is the Canine Good Citizen Test?
The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test is a certification program that evaluates a dog's obedience and manners. The test is offered by the American Kennel Club (AKC).
An evaluator performs the test in a pass fail setting. ​

How do I prepare my dog?
Good Dogs offers 2 classes to get your dog started.
Beginner: If your dog needs to learn the basics
Intermediate: During the 5 week class, we cover 2 CGC test items each class along with other skills to help prepare you for the CGC test.​

Who can participate?
CGC is open to all dogs- purebred and mixed breed.
There are no age minimums or limits.
What happens after the test?

When your dog passes, you'll receive a certificate from the AKC

You can apply for the CGC title through the AKC's Title Application Portal (TAP) System

Test 1 : Accepting a friendly stranger

Test 2 : Sitting politely for petting

Test 3 : Appearance and grooming

Test 4: Out for a walk (walking on a loose lead)
